My research uses a variety of different techniques: questionnaires, literature reviews and co-creation. Co-creation is probably the most exciting technique I use. The people taking part (often called the participants) come along and do arts and crafts activities such as cut & stick collages, playdoh modelling, playing with Lego, and drawing. Through the art they create we can understand a bit more about the way they think and feel – and try to put together interventions that will help them be healthier and happier!
-
My Typical Day:
My typical day changes everyday! I usually have marmite toast for breakfast, and take my puppy out for a walk. I usually work between 9am and 5pm. I work from home 80% of the time, but sometimes I go into the office so I can see some friendly faces and collect data.

My typical day changes everyday because I have a lot of freedom to choose which tasks I want to work on that day – which is great! Some days I will be writing my thesis – which needs to be around 80,000 words long once it is finished. Don’t worry if that sounds like a lot – I have 3 years to write it!

What I'd do with the prize money:
I would need to have a real good think about how to spend the prize money – and would like to hear your suggestions on how I should spend it too! Perhaps I would use some of it to generate some infographics (billboards, posters) of the statistics from my research to display to the public – so more people can be aware of the mental health and well-being challenges that students face.
